 Anstey Nomads FC

introduction imageThe Nomads were formed in 1947 and were champions of the Leicestershire Senior League in the seasons 1951-52 and 1953-54. The following season the Club recorded it’s highest ever attendance of 4,500 against the Athenian League side Hayes in the 2nd round of the FA Amateur Cup. But just one year later the Club decided to join the Central Alliance. In 1966-67 the East Midlands Regional League was formed, mainly from Clubs in the Central Alliance, and of the six seasons the Nomads spent in this League, they gained a top four place in three of them.

Returning to the Leicestershire Senior League in 1973-74, Nomads became Division Two Champions at their first attempt and were promoted back to the top flight. After being runners-up in 1978-79, 1979-80 and 1980-81 they became Champions in 1981-82 and 1982-83. In 1990-91 just one goal put the Nomads behind the leaders

In 1994-95 the Nomads created history by winning both the Leicestershire FA Senior Cup and the Junior Cup in the same season.
