Season 2001-02

In an ironic twist, new manager Mark Whait's opening game of his first full season in charge is against AK United, who beat Polska on the first day of the previous season. Whait has made immediate changes to the club - first, the new skipper is Sean O'Callaghan who has to miss the opening day through injury, whilst the new signings are Stu Matthews and Colt Atkinson. Once Matthews has signed, season ticket sales increase by 87%, with many fans expecting a weekly punch up. On to the game, and despite camping in the AK area for the first half, Polska fail to break the deadlock, and it is left to Mark's younger brother Steve to open the scoring on 56 minutes. From then on, there is only one winner, and with Butch and Tom scoring routine token goals, Polska learn through other results that they sit pretty on top of the table after just one game!
