 Match Report

A controversial red card for stand in keeper Luke Dyke saw Leicester Polska slump to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Glen Parva. Parva's decision to break the first two fixtures of this match looked justified, as, with a strong squad at their disposal for the first time, they wrapped up 3 points with a man advantage. The flashpoint in the game came on 35 minutes, after a poor Stef Thornton back header was intercepted by Rob Wynne, who just had Dyke to beat. Dyke came out, and despite making every effort to go for the ball, made minimal contact with Wynne, who was upended for the penalty. Dyke received a harsh red card, and Jamie Munday put the spot kick past stand in Tom Lane, who has now played in every single position for the club in his long and glittering career. Yet Polska had started brightly - after just 24 seconds Ross Grocock shot straight at Parva keeper Big Jambo, who was in inspired form. Adam Dyke then shot at goal twice from resulting corners, and then later shot wide on 15 minutes. Chris Eames then fired over on 22 minutes, whilst Chris Rudkin missed a great chance just a minute before the red card incident after fantastic work from Eames and Adam Dyke. After going 1-0 down, Ross Grocock nearly got the hosts level, hitting a post on 45 minutes after his initial shot was spilled. In the second half, Munday got his second as Polska went 2-0 down on 50 minutes, but they then dominated possession yet just couldn't find a breakthrough. Dyke saw two shots tipped round a post on 60 and 64 minutes, with Rich Ellis heading over a minute later. Grocock then headed an Eames pass wide on 66 minutes, whilst Dyke saw another effort go over the bar a minute later. Parva then wrapped up the game with their third on 80 minutes. Ellis and Dyke again both went close in the dying minutes, but Polska were to fail to score in a game for the first time in over a year.
