LEICESTER POLSKA showed their battling qualities as they beat Red Star Bell Inn 3-2 in a game of 3 penalties and 2 red cards. Polska had to play 33 minutes of the game with a man less after Rich Ellis was dismissed on 43 minutes for deliberately stopping a Red Star goal bound shot on the line. Danny McNulty then missed the resulting penalty. But before that Polska had started brightly, Chris Rudkin scoring his first goal since November with a phenomenal strike from the left hand side that flew past the Red Star keeper after just 4 minutes. Rudkin then hit a post from a well taken free kick on 13 minutes, but then set up Ross Grocock for Polska's second 10 minutes later after good work from Chris Eames. It was Grocock's 5th goal in 4 games for the club. Red Star then came back into the game, and nicked one back on 31 minutes before the penalty and red card controversy. In the 50th minute, Rudkin hit the bar and Grocock saw his follow up cleared off the line, before Polska were themselves awarded a penalty after Grocock was clearly pushed off the ball in the area. Tom Lane stepped up in the 55th minute and gave Polska a 3-1 lead from the spot, his 40th successful penalty for the club. However, the skipper turned from hero to villain 5 minutes later when handballing in the area, giving Red Star the chance to pull back to 3-2 from the spot. As Red Star's frustrations grew, Conway was sent off on 76 minutes for a second yellow card for dissent, and despite their efforts, they could not find a way through the Polska back line of Hughes, Dyke, Thornton (later Matthews) and Kendall as the visitors took all 3 points.
