POLSKA'S new signings Darren Wheeler and Scott Elliott proved their worth as they helped the Eagles to a hard fought win over Birmingham based Mackadown. Wheeler became the first Polska player to score on his debut since Matt Zydkiewiecz in 2004, his first strike a header on 18 minutes from an Adam Dyke ball. The same two players combined again as Wheeler doubled the advantage on 34 minutes. Polska looked comfortable, but then had to weather a massive storm as Mackadown came out fighting in the second half. Despite Polska launching a fierce rearguard action, Mackadown managed to break through in the 66th minute, but Polska provided stubborn resistance, with debutant keeper Elliott pulling off a string of outstanding saves. Mackadown just couldn't convert their numerous chances and in the end Polska hung on for a famous victory.
