 Match Report

LEICESTER POLSKA'S first game of 2008 saw them pull off a famous 3-2 victory over Advance Couriers in which all of Polska's players were man of the match candidates. With debutant Kelvin Atkins settling in to the side straight away with some wonderful pinpoint passes from midfield, Polska were the better side from the off, and when Adam Dyke's 16 minutes shot found its way through a box full of players, it was no more than the visitors deserved. Advance then enjoyed a decent spell, but hoodwinked the referee into awarding them a scandalous 34th minute penalty when he bought a blatant Luke Cooper dive that gave them a spot kick. Justice was served as Simon Goodman blasted his effort over the bar. In the second half, Advance pressed on, and got a 47th minute equaliser which Jason Hughes was unluckily unable to scoop out of his own goal. However, Darren Wheeler then gave Polska the lead again with a phenomenal right foot shot from the edge of the area which was unstoppable. However, Advance equalised again 8 minutes later, before Wheeler again popped up on 75 minutes to give the Eagles a famous and much deserved win.
