 Match Report

LECIESTER POLSKA showed all their grit and durability as they came from 3-0 down after 38 minutes to snatch a point in a pulsating match. Polska were poor in the first half and failed to get a foothold in the match. Fosse took the lead in the 20th minute, and then doubled their advantage on 34 minutes after defensive mix ups from the Polska back line. They then conceded a farcial third as Artiusz Choina collided with Rich Ellis on 38 minutes to gift Fosse their third. Choina was replaced after that incident through injury. Rich Ellis then gave Polska a lifeline on 42 minutes with a long range free kick that floated into the net. Polska changed shape for the second half, and produced much more positive football. Savo Wieczorek finally got them back in it on 66 minutes to make it 3-2. Mark Inglis then crowned his return to the side with a goal on 73 minutes despite vehement protests from the Fosse players, whose linesman had flagged offside. Referee Ian Danson correctly allowed the goal to stand as Inglis was the innocent party as it was in fact Alan Chater who had strayed offside but was not involved in play. Danson then angered the Polska contingent as he failed to award Inglis a blatant penalty after he was brought down by the Fosse last man when approaching the area. Danson judged the incident to be shoulder to shoulder but clearly it should have been a Polska penalty and Fosse down to ten men. Debutant Polska keeper Tomasz Langner then gifted Fosse a fourth on 77 minutes with a farcical error. After Danson waved play on whilst acknowledging an offisde, Langner moved the ball back into active play, and got caught out as Luke Goddard simply tapped the ball past him into an empty net. Parity was restored when Inglis scored again four minutes from time. Polska will be deeply satisfied with a point after coming back from such a poor start, but incredibly may be wondering how they didn't actually win the game after missing numerous second half chances.
