 Match Report

LEICESTER POLSKA suffered an agonising 96th minute goal from Luke Barnett as they failed to hold on to a 3-2 lead. In an action packed game, Mo Baldeh was making his seasonal debut for the reds, and his presence led to a Fosse own goal after just 36 seconds. It was the fastest Polska goal since March 2000, when Orlando Harper netted after just 15 seconds. But Fosse soon came back into the game, with Barnett getting his first on 18 minutes, with a cross shot that Spider Pajak seemed to be favourite to stop. Maciek Wysoczanski was then penalised for handball on 34 minutes, and Ryan Bayliss buried the resulting penalty. Polska thought they should have had a penalty of their own when Mo Baldeh looked like he was fouled in the first half, but the referee somehow waved play on. In the second half, Polska made some positional changes, and started brightly, Tomasz Godziebiewski making it 2-2 after just 48 minutes. Tom Lane began a phenomenal series of passes, and debutant Colin Ross also did well when coming on. But Savo Wieczorek made it 3-2 on 73 minutes, and apart from a 30 second sequence when Polska cleared two Fosse chances off the line, it looked like they would enjoy their first ever win over Fosse. With the referee inexplicably adding on a huge amount of time, Barnett swooped to secure a point, and but for the Del Boy watch, Polska would have nailed a deserved three points.

PLAYER PERFORMANCES:

PAJAK: Slow to react for the first goal, a little below par today.

MARK CHATER: Impressive looking partnership with Wasik, played well.

WYSOCZANSKI: Unlucky to give away first half penalty, better suited to right back than central midfield.

WASIK: His best game in a Polska shirt. Solid and hungry for the ball. Did very well.

ALAN CHATER: Got involved in everything and was better suited to a wide midfield role second half.

GODZIEBIEWSKI: Quiet game, taken off on 69 minutes for Colin Ross.

OSIPINSKI: Worked as hard as ever, especially in the second half.

LANE: Man of the match. Tremendous range of passing in the second half. His MOM now means he has 23 - more than any other player in Polska history

BALDEH: Terrified the Fosse defence throughout the game, and made the opening goal. Good to see him back in this form.

WIECZOREK: Stabbed home what looked like the winner, worked hard with Baldeh.

GAGLIEWSKI: Tried wide left before coming off second half for Wisniewski.

SUBS:

ROSS: Impressive debut from the midfielder, looks to have a good future on this evidence.

WISNIEWSKI: Pacy and keen, another Polska debutant that looked very decent.

LENOIR: Came on for what turned out to be 7 minutes, too late to make an impact
