 Match Report

Leicester Polska played this 'home' game at Fleckney Athletic's ground, and did the double over their rivals, but as usual with a Fleckney game it was very hard work against a side who never give up. Lukasz Tabaka hit the post after just 2 minutes, and although he caused the Fleckney defence problems all game, he didn't have his scoring boots on, and a series of shots and efforts just wouldn't quite drop for him. Polska dominated yet couldn't score, but when Maciek Wiesnieski was brought down in the Fleckney box on 19 minutes, Tabaka stepped up and converted the resulting penalty. Referee Adam Kirton was spot on when awarding two yellow cards against Fleckney players in the first half for dangerous challenges - and the physical side of the game never seemed too far from the surface. In the second half, Polska allowed Fleckney too much time and space, but fortunately for them Alan Chater made it 2-0 on 67 minutes, and this seemed to kill the game off. The referee actually missed a penalty when Karol Osipinski got the man before the ball with the scores at 1-0, but it would have been very harsh on the balance of play had Polska not come away with all three points today.

PLAYER STATS:

ANDZREJ: Wasn't tested severely, but did what he had to do well.

MARK CHATER: Cleaned up in the air all game, vital part of the Polska defence.

WISNIEWSKI: Came off injured 59 minutes, but won Polska the penalty and was dangerous throughout.

PAJAK: Solid and dependable, came off injured 67 minutes. Fouled badly first half.

OSIPINSKI: At the heart of everything in an unfamiliar right back role, put in great work rate.

ALAN CHATER: Scored second goal and had one ruled out on 87 minutes, usual reliable self.

DZIOPA: Tidy game and again looked comfortable alongside Zydkiewiecz.

ZYDKIEWIECZ: Used his ability and experience very well in the second half in particular, passed the ball well despite being caught in possession twice.

LANE: Solid at left back and one of Polska's best players.

WIECZOREK: Struggled to get into many chances, worked hard for the 90 minutes.

TABAKA: Caused Fleckney major problems, could have come off the pitch with a hat trick.

WASIK: Game was already won when he came on, solid.

WYSOCZANSKI: Was in the thick of things for his 23 minutes, did well.

STATS:

Played away from home, Polska are now unbeaten in 6 league games, their best run since 2007.

It was their 5th win from 8 meetings against Fleckney.

Tom Lane is now level on appearances with the all time record holder Rys Procinski.
