 Match Report

LEICESTER POLSKA ensured their best start to a season since 2004 with an excellent 3-1 win over Aylestone, although this was mainly through an almost faultless first half display. With goalkeeper Andzrej with very little to do in the first half, Polska turned on the style in the first 45, and Radek Gaglewski opened the scoring on 18 minutes with a low drilled shot from the left hand side of the box. Karol Osipinski then doubled the lead on 25 minutes as he beat the offside trap and was left with just the keeper to beat. Alan Chater then saw his 43rd minute effort fumbled over the line by the unfortunate Aylestone keeper as Polska raced into a 3-0 half time lead. With the subs all getting a decent run out and possibly complacency mixed with triedness creeping in, Aylestone picked up the tempo in the last 20, and sub Danny Boat pulled one back on 83 minutes, after Hubert Figarski had been caught out of position, leaving Spider Pajak exposed. Pajak then upended Danny Hodgkinson on 88 minutes, but Andzrej expertly saved the resulting penalty, which pretty much guaranteed the win.

PLAYER PERFORAMANCES:

ANDZREJ: Could do nothing about the goal, and didn't put a foot wrong. Superb 88th minute penalty save to ensure the win, therefore man of the match

MARK CHATER: Excellent at the back in tandem with Spider, won everything in the air and a great game.

PRZERWA: Going off as sub with a slight injury allowed Alyestone back in the game which says all you need to know about his performance.

WASIK: Had his hands full first half as most Aylestone attacks came from the Polska left, but stood up well.

OSIPINSKI: Tired towards the end, but composed enough to score Polska's second and has now scored in all 3 games.

ALAN CHATER: Got forward well first half, clash of heads second half meant his contribution suffered as a result.

GAGLEWSKI: Scored a tidy first goal, now scored in all 3 games but a bit quieter today compared to last week.

PAJAK: Brilliant defensive display, unlucky to give away a penalty but otherwise faultless.

DZIOPA: Pulled the strings first half, a little exposed second half but good return from the midfielder.

WIECZOREK: Chased every cause but got caught offside a few too many times second half.

TABAKA: Surprise starter after last week's injury, still looks a little rusty but will come good.

SUBS:

GAWLIK: Got stuck in strongly, a little less effective when switching with Osipinski late on but all action game.

WYSOCZANSKI: First appearance of the season, and was totally reliable for his 26 minutes. Good game.

FIGARSKI: Got exposed for the Aylestone goal, but worked hard and gave 100%

STATS:

Polska now unbeaten in 6.

Polska still remain unbeaten at home in 2012 - a run of 7 games. The unbeaten home record is 12 games.

If Radek or Karol score in their next game, they will beat the Polska record of scoring in successive games at the start of a season, currently 3 in a row shared by Mark Inglis (2005) and Tom Lane (1999).
