 Match Report

LEICESTER POLSKA won their first County Cup game since November 2009 as they beat Shepshed United 2-1. Shepshed took the lead after 9 minutes, and their long ball game caused Polska all kinds of problems - the visitors were much the better side in the first 45. Lukasz Tabaka gave Polska a lifeline though when hammering home a long range shot on 35 minutes from a Marek Dziopa pass. The Polska equaliser seemed to rock Shepshed, and in the second half Polska were much better, although, as with the first half Spider Pajak still had to make some last ditch saves to keep the hosts in the game. The tide seemed to turn when Przerwa came on on 65 minutes. After nursing an injury through the last few weeks, a fit again Przerwa gave Polska energy and impetus, and his attacking runs forward from right back suddenly gave the Shepshed defence a lot more to think about. It was Przerwa's run deep into the Shepshed box on 88 minutes that led to him beig fouled and winning Polska a penalty, which Radek Gaglewski despatched to score for his 6th consecutive game.

PLAYER RATINGS:

PAJAK: Man of the match with a string of excellent saves that kept Polska in the game.

MARK CHATER: Had a torrid time first half as the Polska back four came under long ball pressure, but much better second half.

WYSOCZANSKI: Had a torrid time first half as the Polska back four came under long ball pressure, but much better second half before being replaced on 65 minutes.

ALAN CHATER: Had a torrid time first half as the Polska back four came under long ball pressure, but much better second half.

WASIK: Had a torrid time first half as the Polska back four came under long ball pressure, but much better second half before coming off injured.

GAGLEWSKI: Scored in his 6th consecutive game, worked hard

OSIPINSKI: Broke up play very well in second half, worked hard

DZIOPA: Created first goal for Tabaka, played well second half.

WISNIEWSKI: Polska's best player first half, kept finding room down the right hand side.

WIECZOREK: Quiet game for the forward, although did put in two good crosses either side of half time.

TABAKA: Scored first and arguably could have had another couple.

SUBS:

PRZERWA: Outstanding game from the right back when coming on.

CRANE: Steadied the ship when coming on for injured Wasik on 76 minutes.

KRZYSTOF: Only had 4 minutes

STATS:

If Radek Gaglewski scores in his next 2 games, he will equal the record set by Mark Inglis who scored in 8 consecutive games
