LEICESTER POLSKA won their first game since 11 October and got through to the last 16 of the County Cup. Max Sieczka's 67th minute goal gave Polska their second 1-0 (home) win of the season, with Max also on target on the opening day of the season that day. Although Mountsorrel started brightly, Polska took full control after around 10 minutes, and for large periods of the game Spider Pajak in goal was just a spectator, having just one proper shot to save all game. The Mountsorrel keeper was in good form, and despite dominating possession, Polska couldn't find the net. The two best chances in the first half fell to Max - with the keeper producing a world class save to palm away his close range shot, and Piotr Kucznier who put his effort over the bar. In the second half, Max finally broke through on 67 minutes, picking up a pass from Piotr and running into the box beating the Mountsorrel defence before slotting it in the right hand corner. Polska were never really troubled too much and with the Mountsorrel sub coming on for the last 15 and deciding to get physical (punching Dominic off the ball!) the game got ugly although the match referee did well to get it back under control. Polska look forward to their last 16 tie with interest. Players: SPIDER: One shot to save all game. Never really troubled MARCIN: Did well on the right, in the thick of things and had a lot of good possession DOMINIC: Brilliant last ditch tackle late on, always in control of the Polska back line JAREK: Excellent game first half in particular, looked a class act DAWID: Got stuck in really well and kept up Polska's solid back line for 90 minutes KROGULEC: A few good runs down the right, replaced on 31 minutes by Dobrzynski due to injury PATRYK: Made 3 excellent tackles in the first half, put himself about for 90 minutes ANDZREJ: Another brilliant performance from the midfielder, had to take his fair share of fouls! MAX: Scored one and should have had another but for a brilliant keeper save, kept Mountsorrel worried all game PIOTR: Had a hand in the Polska goal, replaced on 75 minutes RADEK: Linked up well with Max, saw plenty of the ball DOBRZYNSKI: Enjoyed 59 minutes as came on a first half sub, strong shot second half needed saving KULAS: Good spell at the end when replacing Kucznier stats: MAX scored his 7th Polska goal to put him on the top 40 Polska goalscorers list SPIDER kept his 7th Polska clean sheet, going level with Chris Lewis and one behind record holder Dean Hall edited by Mark (01/11/2014) |
