 Match Report

LEICESTER POLSKA didn't need to find top gear to beat a 9 and later 10 man Field Boxmore side 6-1. Chris Rudkin fired wide on 3 minutes from a Rui Da Costa pass, then on 5 minutes Tom Lane shot over the bar from a Polska corner. Boxmore then conceded a soft penalty on 14 minutes, Da Costa being pushed over in the box, and Lane converting from the spot. Rich Ellis then shot just inches over the bar on 17 minutes after a sweet back heel from Chris Rudkin played him in. Polska doubled their advantage on 20 minutes. Boxmore keeper Rich Hewitt was forced to race out of goal and head the ball away from the advancing Mark Iglis, but then Ellis robbed the Boxmore right back of the ball, and set up Wieczorek who managed to stab the ball past Hewitt despite losing his footing. Polska keeper Jason Hughes then saved a powerful Darren Wheeler free kick on 28 minutes. Wieczorek then narrowly missed scoring his 50th Polska goal, hitting the post after Inglis put him through on 42 minutes. In the second half, Chris Rudkin hit the post after just 2 minutes from a Polska throw in, then on 51 minutes Mark Inglis fired over after a free kick from Luke Dyke. Inglis killed the game off by scoring Polska's third on 54 minutes, finishing off a fantastic move started by Gavin Drummond in the Polska box, and involving good work from Savvo Wieczorek against his marker. Rich Ellis then put in an excellent left hand cross on 73 minutes that Boxmore turned in past Hewitt to make it 4-0. Ellis went one better 2 minutes later, putting Polska 5-0 up with a stunning 25 yard shot from the left hand side. Boxmore pulled back a consolation, Rob Crane giving away a penalty after fouling Wheeler in the box - who converted the resulting spot kick to make it 5-1, before Inglis sealed the 6-1 win after good work from Da Costa and Wieczorek.
