PLAYED AT SAFFRON AYLESTONE LEISURE CENTRE 3G PITCH Leicester Polska are through to the County Cup semi finals for the second time in 2 seasons after an incredible game on the 3G surface - their first competitive fixture on this pitch. Amazingly, Polska could have been 2-0 up inside 2 minutes, only for a long ball over the top on the quick 3G pitch to see them go 1-0 down on 3 minutes. Worse was to follow after the scores went 0-2 on 16 minutes, before Mantas pulled one back on 26 minutes from a Sav pass. On 30 minutes Shelthorpe made it 1-3 - the half time score - despite the lions share of Polska possession and numerically more attempts on goal. Polska - watched by club president Steve Walsh started the 2nd half brilliantly - on 49 minutes Karol made it 2-3 from a Przerwa pass, and just 2 minutes later he then set up Mantas for his second to make it 3-3. This seemed to rock the visitors, and on 64 minutes Sav made it 4-3 with a rare header from a great Max cross. On 67 minutes Mantas then got through, only to be brought down in the area by the Shelthorpe keeper - who was arguably lucky to escape a red - but took the resulting penalty and made it 5-3. Polska then seemed to relax too much, and on 78 minutes Shelthorpe made it 5-4, before Przerwa scored his own goal from a Mantas pass on 89 minutes. Marcin Cupal then made it 7-4, heading in unmarked from a Marek corner on 89 minutes. 3' Polska 0-1 16' Polska 0-2 26' Polska 1-2 (Mantas goal from Sav pass) 30' Polska 1-3 49' Polska 2-3 (Karol goal from Przerwa pass) 51' Polska 3-3 (Mantas goal from Przerwa pass) 64' Polska 4-3 (Sav goal from Max pass) 68' Polska 5-3 (Mantas penalty after he was fouled) 68' Polska sub: Cupal replaces Osipinski 72' Polska sub: Wysoczanski replaces Kucznier 78' Polska 5-4 89' Polska 6-4 (Przerwa goal from Mantas pass) 94' Polska 7-4 (Cupal goal from Marek cross) STATS: Polska won a game after being 1-0 down for first time since 19 Sep v Old Aylestone Polska won a game after being 2-0 down for first time since April 2013 (v North Kilworth) Polska scored 6 second half goals for first time since January 2013 (v North Kilworth) Mantas scores first Polska hat trick, and first by any Polska player since October 2014 (Przerwa) Polska win opening game of a calendar year for 5th successive January Manager Mark Whait reaches his 6th semi final for the club Przerwa scores 20th Polska goal - in just 46 appearances Sav moves on to 120 Polska goals - 6 behind all time top scorer Tom Lane |
