Horse gallop away with the spoils after Polska slip up again

(contributed by Mark Whait - 26/11/2006)

LEICESTER POLSKA again threw away a 3-1 lead against a Premiership side for the second week running. Going down 6-4 to Babington Horse, Polska had the first attempt on goal, Chris Rudkin shooting just wide after 2 minutes from a Savvo Wieczorek pass. But Polska were caught napping a minute later, Rob Johnson giving Horse a 1-0 lead with a sublime finish after good work down the right. Tom Lane then equalised on 18 minutes after successfully converting his 11th straight penalty, after Mark Inglis had been fouled in the box a minute earlier. Inglis then gave Polska the lead 2 minutes later, heading home a Wieczorek cross after the Horse keeper came racing out of his goal. Rudkin then shot inches wide again on 28 minutes after collecting an Inglis pass. Rudkin then put Polska 3-1 up on 34 minutes after the Horse keeper failed to hold on to his powerful shot. Polska keeper Jason Hughes then pulled off a cracking save on 34 minutes, tipping a Horse effort over the bar, but could do nothing 4 minutes later as Horse came back to 3-2. Inglis then fired wide on 39 minutes, after good work from Stef Thornton. Hughes then pulled off another magnificent save on 45 minutes, before Horse made it 3-3 with a long range effort just seconds later. After a strong start to the second half from Polska, Horse then pulled away, scoring on 58 and 62 minutes, to go 5-3 up. Inglis then shot just wide from a Guy Jarvis pass on 73 minutes. Chris Eames was another to miss the target on 83 minutes, before Ben Biggs put Horse 6-3 up on 86. Chris Rudkin then rounded off a fine mornings work when his long range free kick found the net at the death.
