Grocock finally arrives at Polska

(contributed by Mark Whait - 04/12/2006)

ROSS GROCOCK is now an official Leicester Polska player after signing from Premiership strugglers A&T Sports. Grocock, who has scored 13 goals in the top flight this season, will be in the squad to face Countesthorpe Old Boys at Knighton Park on Sunday, with the club now just waiting for the Alliance League to authorise his transfer.

Grocock had been on the verge of joining Polska in the summer after playing (and scoring) in Polska's end of season Old Boys game, but had a last minute change of heart, and decided to test himself in the Premier. However, the player has found the lure of Knighton Park too much, and said he was impressed with the organisation and history behind such a long standing Sunday league club.

Grocock won last season's Divison One Golden Boot, with 29 goals pipping Polska's Mark Inglis to the award (who scored 28) and his arrival will strengthen Polska's attacking options who have played with just two recognised strikers for three seasons now.

His arrival is a timely boost for the club following the recent loss of Vernon Harper, and three successive cup defeats. He scored two goals against Polska just over a year ago in a league game, which first bought him to the attention of the Polska management, although he was kept quiet in February when Polska put on a tremendous performance with a hugely deserved 2-1 win over A&T.
