 Match Report

LEICESTER POLSKA are enjoying their best start to a season since 2004 as they made it two from two with a good win against St Patricks. Polska were recording their fourth consecutive win over their hosts, and now move up to second place in the league. They spurned a number of chances, but Radek Gagliewski continued his goalscoring form upfront when giving Polska the lead on 12 minutes. However, St Pats equalised eight minutes later. Spider Pajak was unable to hold their 20th minute powerful free kick and Robert Downes pounced on the spilled shot to make it 1-1. However, Gagliewski was again on target to give Polska a 2-1 lead on 34 minutes, which they carried in to half time. Alan Chater then made the points safe on 62 minutes, before Savo Wieczorek got his first goal of the season on 71 minutes. Karol Osipinski then completed the scoring on 79 minutes. Polska veteran Rys Procinski took to the field on 80 minutes, sporting a desert island beard which nearly got him on to the pitch unrecognised. Polska were scoring for the 27th consecutive game.

PLAYER PERFORMANCES:

PAJAK: Couldn't hold on to the stinging St Patricks free kick which led to the goal, but did everything else well and was actually the least worked player on the pitch.

MARK CHATER: Solid at the back, and forming a decent looking central defensive partnership with Rob Crane. Did everything that was asked of him, and a vital part in Polska's good start to the season.

WYSOCZANSKI: Got in some timely tackles and good blocks, was solid and never put a foot wrong. Great performance from the Pole.

CRANE: A little shaky early on, but once he found his feet was totally reliable, and his aerial ability was very evident as he won vital headers as the game wore on. Good game.

ALAN CHATER: Left midfielder did well, passed the ball around very usefully this week, and was in a good position for his goal. Looked well up for the game and played well.

GODZIEBIEWSKI: Possible penalty claims in the first half, but picked up an injury as a result and had to carry it through to the 80th minute when he was replaced by Rys Procinski.

OSIPINSKI: Was again a very busy midfielder in the Polska engine room, and was never far from the action. Took his goal well and will be missed next week.

KRAGULEC: Excellent man of the match display despite playing in an unfamiliar left back role. Has thrived on Polska's good start and really caught the eye with a great performance.

WIECZOREK: Spent many minutes on the pitch battling against the St Patricks offside trap. Looked hungry for a goal, and duly delivered on 71 minutes. Put himself about and a busy match for the forward.

GAGLIEWSKI: 2 more goals for the forward, but he should have had more. Made a couple of wrong decisions when through on goal but overall worried the St Pats defence during the game and remains a handful. Will do well for Polska this season on this evidence.

DZIOPA: Tried in an unfamiliar wide right role from the off, but as the game wore on Dziopa's touches and passing were exceptional and not far off man of the match.

SUBS:

PROCINSKI: Came on last 10 minutes, and the Polska veteran found a team mate with every single touch of the ball. Good performance.
